Zusammenfassung

Seit der Konstruktion des ersten Lasers 1960 wurde eine fast unüberschaubare Anzahl von Techniken und Methoden zur Spurenanalyse von Atomen und Molekülen in Festkörpern, Flüssigkeiten, Gasen oder Plasmen mit Lasern vorgeschlagen. Ungeachtet der immensen Fortschritte in der Technik und dem Bedienungskomfort der Laser, finden sich Laser heute trotzdem nur in wenigen ausgesuchten analytischen Routineverfahren wie Ramanspektroskopie, Probenahme durch Laserablation und Streulichtmessungen an Kolloiden. Die Gründe hierfür sind offensichtlich, Laser zeichnen sich immer noch durch eine aufwendige Bedienung und einen hohen Anschaffungspreis aus. Die seit einer Dekade vorhergesagten Entwicklungen im Bereich der Laserdioden und Laserdioden-gepumpten Festkörperlaser, die einen Ersatz konventioneller Laser und Lichtquellen versprachen, sind bisher nur in Ansätzen erfolgt.
