Zusammenfassung
»Der Patient, der an Kopfschmerzen leidet, findet sich häufig in der Situation eines medizinischen Waisenkindes. Er kann sich glücklich schätzen, wenn sein Kopfschmerz vorübergehend ist. Ist dies nicht der Fall, befindet er sich auf einer Exkursion beim Augenarzt, Hals-, Nasen- und Ohrenarzt, Neurologen, Zahnarzt, Psychiater, Orthopäden, Apothekern und den neuesten Massagepraxen. Er wird geröntgt, mit Brillen ausgestattet, psychoanalysiert, stimuliert, es werden die Zähne gezogen, er wird eingerenkt, akupunktiert und die Nasenmuscheln werden operiert. Und zumeist bleiben die Kopfschmerzen bestehen. (Nach Packard 1979, S. 370)«
