Zusammenfassung

Eine Xerostomie ist am häufigsten Folge einer medikamentösen Therapie insbesondere bei Medikamenten mit anticholinerger Wirkkomponente. Ebenso kann es nach Bestrahlung der Mund- und Rachenschleimhaut sowie des Halses und bei rheumatischen Erkrankungen (insbesondere beim Sjögren- Syndrom) zu Mundtrockenheit kommen. Auch bei einer Hepatitis C-Infektion kommt es häufig zu einem Sjögren-ähnlichen Krankheitsbild. Diese und weitere Ursachen einer Xerostomie wurden in einem Review von Napenas et al. (1) nochmals zusammengefasst.
