Abstract

The topics of food and medicine have been mobilized for ages by semioticians in order to conduct their studies of sign processes and sign relations. The objective of this book is to examine the manner in which contemporary biosemiotics can help us reconsider food and medicine. Some chapters present more theoretical considerations (on advertising, cravings, holobionts, consumerism, care, spirituality and politics), whereas others expose more practical or medical applications of those experiences.
