Abstract
When my husband Nat’s cancer was diagnosed in 1991, the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test was new, the Internet was new, there were no prostate cancer support groups, and I had no idea about how to access a medical library. But I did have the strong feeling that I had to educate myself as well as I could about this disease, partly as a way of not being an emotional wreck, and also because it might make a difference in the health and long life of my partner of 33 yr.
