Abstract
Even though we teach our children that “Beauty is only skin deep,” our society so values clear, flawless skin that billions of dollars are spent each year on the hundreds of skin lotions, creams, cleansers, conditioners, and cover-ups that crowd drugstore shelves. Because of this attitude, skin problems—including those resulting from allergic skin disorders—cause considerable grief, much of which is avoidable.
