Abstract
Michael Porter is a leading academic, successful business consultant, an inspirational speaker, and a respected art collector. That Michael Porter did not become a professional golfer was that sport’s loss - but for the Fortune 500 most fortunate indeed! Many of his ideas are of relevance to the business world. He is a profound thinker on matters about which Shell feels strongly. And it is particularly those of his ideas that have found practical application in the hard nosed world of business, that I wish to recall here.
