Abstract

The infrared region extends from 13000 cm-1 to 50 cm-1 and is generally divided into three areas: the near infrared (NIR, 13000–4000 cm-1), the medium infrared (IR, 4000–400 cm-1) and the far infrared (400–50 cm-1), as shown in Figure 9.1 for the electromagnetic spectrum.
